My birthday is just three days before Christmas, and I got to spend it my favorite way, at home with my husband and three beautiful children! My husband is so good at gift giving (far better than I am), and this year he went above and beyond!
As you all know, earlier this month we made the tough decision to surrender our adopted Boxer, back to the no-kill shelter where we got him from, because he was not a fan of the kiddos. I was heartbroken, and really missed having a fur-baby to complete our little family. My husband, who is the only person in this world who loves me unconditionally, and truly cares about my happiness, decided to take matters into his own hands! As an early birthday present, my sweet husband surprised me with the most adorable little black Pug puppy you could ever imagine! We named him Milo, and have been working hard at crate/potty training, and so far so good! Little Milo definitely does not like the cold weather! I can't say I blame him! I am so in love with his flat, smooshy face! I am excited to watch him grow up alongside my boys, and hope they form a deep, loving bond with one another.
We spent Christmas as we usually do, at home together, just the five of us. It's hard shopping for boys who seem to only enjoy video games (not our toddler of course), but we really tried to make sure they had plenty to open up on Christmas morning. After we opened presents, I cooked up a big dinner! I am not the greatest cook, and I can't say I enjoy cooking, but I do love having a big meal on big holidays! Of course, my late brother was on my mind and in my heart the entire day. I don't think I will ever get used to not having him with me on Christmas. In my heart, he was there with me.
I am looking forward to the New Year (this year has been a hard one), but I am so grateful for my husband and children, and am looking forward to building more memories with the people who matter most!
