REDECORATING ON A BUDGET: SHABBY CHIC FARMHOUSE TOUR

I have been redecorating our home the past couple of months, because I wanted a fresh, new look, to kick off the new year! I wanted to add some pops of color, because while I love minimalist looks, they can sometimes end up becoming a little too "sterile" looking. I want my home to feel cozy and inviting!
I moved the fireplace under the wall mounted TV. and moved our bench seat onto the opposite wall.

I got this interesting wood and steal wall art, as well as the turquoise side table from "At Home". Both were on clearance, so they were really inexpensive!
I am absolutely in love with my new curtains! These red and beige curtains from "Kirklands" add that pop of color I was lacking before, and I love the trellis pattern! I hung them above my dining room window as well! The mason jar wall piece came from "Dollar General", which surprisingly stocks tons of adorable home decor, for really reasonable prices!
I found this reclining sofa and chair off of Facebook Marketplace, and the lovely couple we purchased it from was nice enough to deliver them to us! I decided to keep our old sofa for the time being, but I really want to find it a new home, and have even more space. We got rid of the coffee table, because I wanted to have a large enough open area, for our kids and doggies to play!

I moved the cart we were using as an island, into the dining room, to store our microwave and coffee pots on, which not only free'd up our limited counter space, but also gave us more room to move around our tiny kitchen! I also added new curtains, and new table decor! I found these cheerful yellow placemats at "St. Francis Thrift Store". I bought some beige and white checkered cushions for our table chairs off of "Poshmark", but am still waiting on them. I love mixing patterns and colors! If you look closely, you will spot our newest family member "Ozzy", who is the sweetest (and cutest) little black lab mix in the entire world! He has quickly become Milo's best friend!

My sweet husband got me these flowers, and a card as a thank you, and recognition for all the hard work I put into taking care of our home and family. I love the wicker basket pot, so I will add my own faux flowers once these die. The giant metal fork and spoon are from "At Home", the wall art is from "Dollar General", and the metal word sign came from a peddler's mall.
In the kitchen, I took down the sign I had hanging above the window, and moved up our curtain valance, which gives the illusion that the window is larger. I also really tried to de-clutter the countertops. Not only do we need the prep space, but it's so much easier to wipe down countertops when you don't' have to move a ton of stuff out of the way. Also, as you all know, I can't stand clutter!
I don't like the overhead lighting in the kitchen, so I added this little table lamp, and some decor to this  corner.  The wire wall mounted basket came from "Amazon" and the Kitchen Rules sign came from "Dollar General". The window valance came from "Walmart".
Our laundry area is part of the kitchen, and while I would love a seperate laundry room, I tried to make the corner cute by adding the laundry sign (from Christmas Tree Shops), and the wicker laundry basket came from "Goodwill". The little red chicken came from "Dollar Tree", which is a fantastic place to get dirt cheap home deocr, especially seasonal decor. That remind's me...it's almost time to decorate for Valentine's!  :-)
I also did a little bathroom redecorating! Since we all share this one tiny bathroom, I wanted to make it more fun for the kiddos, especially since I still have two little ones who take baths! I also changed the white toilet seat to this beautfiul multi-colored wooden one. Both the shower curtain and toilet seat came from "Walmart".
I changed the wall decor to this simple little bath themed one. This was only $3 from "Dollar General"!

I am always moving decor and furniture around, but I am loving the current setup, and will try to stick to it for awhile! I hope this post helps provide some decorating ideas for anyone decorating on a budget!
