HOMESCHOOLING: 4TH GRADE SCHEDULE AND CURRICULUM

This is our first year homeschooling, after doing public school from grades k-3.  Colton is currently 9 years old, and he’s in the 4th grade. Because he is used to a public school format, I am taking what is referred to as a "Traditional" approach to homeschooling. Our youngest is 3, and I plan on beginning homeschooling with him as well, once he turns 4-5 years old. For now, we are taking it year by year. My curriculum choices will likely change for next year, or I might decide to switch things up mid-year!

Here is our daily 4th Grade Schedule:

7:30 Breakfast/ Pledge of Allegiance/Daily Learning Notebook

8:00 Reading

8:30 Writing

9:00 Spelling

9:30 Vocabulary

10:00 Math

11:00 Language

11:30 (Lunch/Gym x1 day a week)

12:30 Science

1:00 Health

1:30 Geography

2:00 History

2:30 Art/Music/Typing/Piano (x1 day a week)

I could have probably  grouped together some of these subjects (such as vocabulary and spelling), but since we are just starting out, I preferred to keep everything separate to make sure I dedicate time to each subject.

Here is our 4th grade curriculum for the year:

Reading: Spectrum Reading Grade 4

Science: Spectrum Science Grade 4

Math: The Good And The Beautiful Math 4 Course Set, Spectrum Multiplication Grade 4, Interactive Notebooks Grade 4, Math 4 Today Grade 4

Language: Spectrum Language Arts Grade 4

Writing: Spectrum Writing Grade 4

Geography: Spectrum Geography Grade 4

Vocabulary: Spectrum Vocabulary Grade 4

I purchased a lot of my books from Christianbook.com, which has fantastic prices, and some from a locally owned school supply store. After looking through everything, I am the most excited to use The Good And The Beautiful (TGATB), and may switch to that for other subjects, either for the current school year, or the next! I will update on my homeschooling journey, as we go!
